Diligence And Persistence Can Produce Amazing Success Story
Gen. 26: 12-22
The commitment of Isaac to succeed – his persistence and diligence, has always been an encouraging story to us that God still rewards hard work. It is often said that a quitter will not win, and if you must win, you will have to be resilient against obstacles. Isaac sowed in the time of famine and it was recorded that God blessed him exceedingly – he was very rich in cattle [Gen. 26:1, 12]. Immediately came one of the challenges of riches – envy and jealousy, and particularly for someone who lives among peasant people. Another challenge Isaac had was the availability of water to sustain his livestock. Isaac had to dig again, all the wells that his father dug that had been blocked by the Philistines. On several occasions, the people of Gerar strove with him over the wells he dug, but he continued until God gave him victory. There is no substitute to persistence and diligence if we want success in life. Someone may say, ‘what is now the position of God’s favour?’ In fact, laziness will not allow a man to appreciate God’s favour. A lot of people have lost their talents and spiritual gifts due to negligence and indolence. God has promised to bless the work of our hands; we must, therefore, continue in productive works so as to ensure His continued blessings.
POINT OF EMPHASIS: Don’t allow discouragement to stop you; God has provided a place for you at the top.
PRAYER POINT: Oh Lord, let every well of comfort or stream of income that has been blocked be opened in Jesus’ name.
