Impenitence Brings God’s Wrath
Jer. 7:8-15
At times, people use confession just as a ruse to escape the repercussion of one’s sin. People confess their sin, only to return to the sin again and again. God sees through the deceit and cannot be fooled. When man refuses to genuinely turn away from sin, judgment is inevitable. Man often has some reasons or something he trusts in for refusing to genuinely repent. The Jews believed that as long as the temple was in their midst, they could not suffer any disaster. That kind of thinking ignores history. God has sternly judged unrepentant sinners in the past. People trusted in Shiloh being the place where God put His presence, but sin caused Shiloh to be destroyed under His judgment. God warns sinners in every generation, including ours, of impending judgment; it is left for the generation to seek His face in genuine repentance.
POINT OF EMPHASIS: Do not put your trust in anything but the mercy of God, else judgment is inevitable.
PRAYER POINT: Father, move through our land and destroy the spirit of impenitence.
