Embrace Peace
Heb. 12:14-17; Ps. 34: 14
The phrase ‘pursue peace’ means embrace peace. Believers are enjoined to give peace a chance at all times. Our reactions to events of life or happenings around us portray who we are. The Scripture says we should “pursue peace with all people and holiness without which no one will see the Lord. In all our interpersonal relationships, business activities, social interactions etc., we need to be peace driven. Creating crisis, confusion, chaos and destruction in times of conflicts is not the path of peace. There must be a deliberate effort to create a peaceful atmosphere for resolution of conflicts and disputes amongst us. When we disagree with others or a controversy arises over any issue, there must be intentional moves on both or all sides to resolve same as quickly and peacefully as possible. Disputes should not be allowed to fester for too long and one would think this is the reason the Scripture says “Be angry and do not sin, do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil (Eph. 4:26-27). God wants us to embrace peace. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace and He gives us peace (Isa.9:6; John 14:27) Let us therefore be conscious of the need for peace at all times.
Point of Emphasis: Eschew violence and chaos, give peace a chance.
Prayer Point: Lord Jesus, help us to control our emotions to allow for peace.
