UNDERSTANDING INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS
MEMORY VERSE
Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind’. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself’ (Matt. 22:37-39) NKJV

Know Your Neighbours
Lk. 10:29-37
Who are your neighbours? This question becomes imperative in view of the insecurity being experienced in almost every part of the globe. Prior to the time of Jesus, the understanding of the Jews about neighbour is that those who are associates, those who live within the neighbourhood can be regarded as neighbours. As a matter of fact, the construction placed upon neighbour in Leviticus 19:18 is that of friend as opposed to enemy, and that is why the Jews held the belief that to hate one’s enemy was not forbidden by the law (Matt. 5:43). However, in the parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus taught that whoever we come across that needs our help is our neighbour. We must therefore be ready at all times to have good relationship with our identified neighbours. But, as a result of security challenge, believers must allow the leading of the Holy Spirit on assisting those that we have not known before.
Point of Emphasis: Relate well with your identified neighbours.
Prayer Point: Lord, make me a good neighbour to all that I come across in life.
