Feed The Flock, Don’t Feed On The Flock
Jn. 21:15-19
Not quite long after Jesus’ resurrection, Peter, one of the most senior disciples whom Jesus trusted as a leader of the group, decided to leave the Great Commission given to him and went back into his secular job (Jn. 21:1-14). He even succeeded in drawing others along with him. However, Jesus appeared unto them to correct them and bring them back to the original plan He had for them. After asking Peter whether he loves Him more than mundane things, He then instructed him to feed and tend His sheep. Jesus’ sheep are members of the body of Christ. He is expecting those who are leaders to feed the flock by taking good care of them and nourishing them spiritually and physically. But it is a pity that some are feeding on the flock by milking them through exploitation and giving them wrong spiritual diet. This kind of attitude cannot bring about good relationship. Therefore as leaders of God’s people, take care, protect, guide in the right direction those whom you are opportuned to relate with.
Point of Emphasis: If you truly love Jesus, take care of His children put in your care.
Prayer Point: Lord, help me not to take undue advantage of Your people as I lead and relate with them.
