Relationship Between Mentor and Mentee
1 Cor. 4:14-20
Paul was the one who brought the members of Corinthian church to know the Lord. In essence, he was their spiritual father; they were his spiritual children. As the spiritual father, he had the right and responsibility to mentor the members. A mentor is someone whom one voluntarily submits unto for guidance and accountability. A spiritual mentor needs to be of high standard of holiness and should be able to boldly instruct his mentees to imitate him just as he imitates Jesus Christ. Don’t choose, as your mentor, someone of shady character or of doubtful moral standard; such is likely to lead you into hell. Within the church there are many spiritual orphans who would not submit themselves to any mentor. Spiritual orphans want to do whatever they like; they want to travel on the broad way instead of the narrow path. This trend is gaining ground among the people in the church. Know that this is detrimental to your spiritual growth. Desist from it if you are involved.
Point of Emphasis: Don’t be a spiritual orphan; submit yourself under the tutelage of a godly mentor.
Prayer Point: In the name of Jesus, I will not get lost in the race of life because I won’t be without a mentor.
