Recognizing, Accepting Godly Admonition
1 Thess. 5:12-22
A good shepherd has strong concern for the welfare of the sheep under his care – how to feed the sheep with nourishing food, defend the sheep from predators and ensure that the sheep are in good health. This is also true of a church leader who cares about the welfare of the members of his congregation. He will take pains to admonish them in the way of the Lord and warn them of different forms of danger lurking around. In the congregation however, there are members who cannot recognize the good intention of the leader in giving godly admonition and who are not ready to accept godly admonition. Many have itching ears and are searching for ministers who will preach what they want to hear. For good rewarding relationship within the church, each member should desire to get good admonition from ministers and be prepared to accept such admonition.
Point of Emphasis: Be ready to recognize and accept godly admonition from church leaders.
Prayer Point: Lord, grant us the grace to accept godly admonition from our leaders. Use us to build up the body of Christ.
