Discipline Of Periodic Bible Study
Acts 17:1-12
The believers in Berea did not rely only on what Paul taught them; they took the pains to search the Scriptures on their own to know the truth. Personal Bible study is a deliberate, systematic and periodic in-depth search into the Scriptures to have a personal revelation of the truth. Paul admonished Timothy to study and be eager and to do his utmost to present himself to God, approved as a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analysing and accurately dividing the word of truth. Bible study goes deeper than just reading the Bible. Choose a suitable time, a study Bible, Bible commentaries, concordance and a note book. Choose a particular subject; use all available material to understand what the Bible says about the topic. Avoid reading esoteric or pre-conceived meaning into the text but study the text in context in agreement with other related passages in the Bible and be sensitive to the Holy Spirit as He unfolds the truth to you (2 Pet. 1: 20-21).
Point of Emphasis: The Bible contains gold, it is certain that one will find it if he digs into the Bible.
Prayer Point: Give me clear revelation of the truth in Your word as I search.
