Love God, Justice And Pay Your Dues
Lk. 11:42-44
Jesus opposed the hypocritical practices of the Scribes and the Pharisees. Some have used this Bible passage to justify that Jesus opposed payment of tithe. This is erroneous, reading from different versions of the Bible will give us better understanding of what Jesus meant. God’s word for students Bible reads “How horrible it will be for you Pharisees! You give God one-tenth of your mint, spices, and every garden herb, but you have ignored justice and the love of God. You should have done these things without ignoring the others” Jesus denounced the Pharisees though they were faithful in payment of their tithes in everything but they failed to love God with their whole heart and refused to love justice. This attitude is a fact that one does not have the Holy Spirit with His regenerating grace (Rom. 8:5-14). If you remain in this condition, how can you escape the damnation of hell? (Matt. 23:33). Re-appraise your life to see whether you are faithful in loving God, justice and payment of your tithe. Jesus expects you to be faithful in both.
POINT OF EMPHASIS: Don’t ignore justice and the love of God. Also, pay your tithe accurately and faithfully.
PRAYER POINT: Lord, by Your grace I will not ignore loving You and justice. I will also pay my tithe faithfully.
