The Joy of Giving
Deut. 16:17
The scripture above enjoins thus “Every man shall give as he is able.” The story below shows practical demonstration of the scripture. The academy award winning movie Shindler’s list, is the story of one man’s effort to make the most of a desperate opportunity. As the director of a factory in Germany, Shindler decided to use his position to save people by employing them in his factory. Shindler was able to rescue condemned Jews from the gas chambers. But keeping them is costly. Little by little, he liquidated his personal possessions in order to keep the business afloat so that more lives could be saved. At the end of the story, Shindler was not yet happy because he believed he had not done enough. He wished he had done more. We can learn a powerful lesson about giving from this man. Because, in the same way, even joyful givers will not look back on their lives and wish they’d done more. As for those who don’t give at all, or who give less than they can, imagine their thoughts as they stand before God in the final audit to give account of how they used their finances and are rewarded accordingly.
POINT OF EMPHASIS: If you’re a cheerful giver, you will always want to give the more.
PRAYER POINT: Lord God, please give me the grace to see the reasons to always give.
