Relating With Co-Workers In The Church
Phil. 4:1-3
Euodia and Syntyche were genuine Christians who laboured alongside of Paul in the church. Their names were written in the Book of Life. Yet Paul had to appeal to them to be of same mind in the Lord. In their zeal to serve the Lord, they probably allowed individual differences in temperament and character to cause friction between them. Co-workers within the church should learn to accommodate one another’s idiosyncrasies. No two individuals are exactly the same – they will see the same issue differently and react differently. It is a mark of maturity when two people would not allow such differences to cause friction between them. Often times even the mature Christian gives room for the flesh to take control. That inevitably brings about disagreements and friction. We need to learn to be crucified with Christ. It is vital that you should submit to the guidance of our spiritual leaders. Substituting your own ideology in areas which the constitution and doctrine have ruled over may cause friction in the church. Don’t join those who fashion their own programs to take pre-eminence over national ones. You should ensure that you are not walking in the way of disobedience.
Point of Emphasis: Do not give room for carnality to cause friction between brethren within the church.
Prayer Point: Father, give us the grace to keep the flesh where it belongs – crucified with Jesus on the cross. Help me to be obedient to Your leadings.
