Encouraging One Another To Greater Heights

1 Sam. 25:26-35

Abigail, Nabal’s wife, eventually became David’s wife after the death of Nabal. Even before becoming David’s wife, she played an exemplary role in bringing the best out of David’s character. Out of anger and desire for revenge, David would have slaughtered Nabal and his family. But Abigail appealed to his higher sense of morality, which turned his mind from committing murder. Every member of a family should encourage others in the family to aspire to reach greater heights. No matter what height a member of the family has reached, there is always room for improvement. Spouses should be keenly interested in the progress of each other, and should challenge each other to climb higher in ministry and career. The success achieved by one family member brings glory to the whole family. When one member is discouraged, the other is there to lift him up emotionally.

Prayer Point: God, grant us unity of purpose in our families.
