Blessed Are You When You Suffer For Being Right
1 Pet. 3:13-17
People will criticise and sometimes malign a Christian out of ignorance or out of malice. People with wicked intent will even go all out to lie against a Christian, alleging the Christian has done what he has not. Anyone going through such experiences is likely to become bitter. At such a time also, God may not be in a hurry to defend the Christian; thereby creating fear of being abandoned in the Christian’s heart. It is important for the Christian to put his mind to rest, trusting in the power of God to deliver him and being confident that no one can harm him as long as he is obedient to God’s commands. He needs to continue to honor God by continuing to live righteously. When a Christian does something wrong and is being punished, he is not bringing any glory to God. Suffering, when one is doing the right thing, is not a mark of God’s disapproval.
POINT OF EMPHASIS: It is better to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
PRAYER POINT: Father, keep us walking steady following You no matter what we go through.
