Avoid Favoritism
Jam. 2:1-11
In our society today, the people that are accorded high degree of respect are the rich, affluent and influential. When you visit any governmental agency or seek a post, position or contract, you must present a proof that you are related or connected to a wealthy or influential person in the society before you can be granted attention. Many practically ‘worship’ the wealthy just for what they stand to gain from them and can tread on the right of the poor. We are being admonished in our Bible reading today not to be respecters of persons. You should treat all human beings with respect irrespective of their status. You must see them the way God sees them. It is quite painful to know that this act of favoritism has crept into our churches, where it is only those who pay obeisance to the Pastors, or the wealthy in the church that are allowed to hold key post. God is calling every Christian today to avoid this ungodly act of favoritism and to treat everyone with equity.
Point of Emphasis: But if ye have respect of person, ye commit sin.
Prayer Point: Help me, o Lord, to avoid partiality or favoritism in all my dealings.
