Choose To Obey God
Acts 4:15-21
Peter and John were commanded to step aside while the Sanhedrin gathered to debate upon the matter in today’s passage, because the Sanhedrin would not yield to the convincing miracle and the commanding power of the truth (The Bible). Their verdict was to charge the Apostles never to speak or preach any more. No reason was given to them why the doctrine of Christ must be suppressed. Thank God for the confidence and courageous resolution of the two Prisoners. Peter and John needed not to confer together to know one another’s mind before responding. They were moved by the Holy Spirit and jointly put in the answer ‘Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to obey you rather than God, for we can’t help speaking about what we have seen and heard’. No matter the threat or persecution, God’s word (The Bible) should be the final authority to be obeyed and not man. God commanded and charged us to preach the gospel and has committed it to us as a trust, requiring us upon our allegiance to faithfully dispense it as far as possible. Now who must we obey, God or man? Obey God.
Point Of Emphasis: It is better to obey God’s command rather than man.
Prayer Point: O Lord, help me to obey Your command always even in the face of threat and persecutions.
