Study The Word

2 Tim. 2:14-21

Every Christian should be a student of the Bible. In our text today, Timothy was encouraged to study to show himself approved to God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. This same charge applies to us today as Christians. Just as secular students have to study their textbooks and school material, Christians should endeavour to have a sound understanding of the Bible and doctrines. The more versed we are in the Scriptures, the easier it is for us to do God’s will. Doing God’s will spares us the trouble that comes from making bad decisions and partaking in sin. Continuous study of the Word will correct our carnal nature and help us stay on track in the Christian journey. Believers should know that the inspired word of God is the expression of God’s wisdom. It gives us wisdom for success in life.

Point of Emphasis: Christians should be students of the Bible.

Prayer Point: Help me to gain the right understanding of the Word as I study it.
