1 Tim. 6:3-14
Our teachings and beliefs must centre on what the Bible says since one’s motive determines his or her direction. In Paul’s instruction to Timothy according to the passage read, servants should honour masters (v. 2). Believers must avoid error and greed (vv. 3-10) and pursue righteousness (vv. 11-14). We must not drift away from sound doctrine so that our teachings will produce results. Remember that conflict arises when we have wrong motives. In addition, when we do things for personal gain, we are creating room for division. Know that our wrong motives will push us to act wrongly and that will disqualify us before God. Don’t wander away from the faith to destroy yourself.
Point of Emphasis: Wrong motives will cause you to make wrong moves.
Prayer Point: Lord Jesus, help me to give honour to whom honour is due, avoid error and greed and make good confession of my faith.
