Pride Goes Before Destruction
Prov. 16:18-21
When a man does not possess the spirit of meekness, he is very likely to possess the spirit of pride. While meekness and humility walk hand in hand, pride is on the other side of the aisle. A proud person finds it difficult to follow godly instructions; when people rub him on the rough side, he is likely to blow hot because his ego has been wounded. Those who find it difficult to follow godly instruction follow the path that leads to destruction. Society looks down upon those who choose to be meek and encourages people to blow their own trumpet, push themselves forward, prove that they are second to none, accept nonsense from no one; etc. Any philosophy that makes one to reject God’s commands or selectively obey God or makes one brash when dealing with others, is not of God and will lead to destruction.
POINT OF EMPHASIS: Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.
PRAYER POINT: I pray in the name of Jesus Christ that I will not be destroyed by pride.
