Abide In Christ
Jn. 15:1-10
Jesus used agricultural analogy to tell us how Christian life is related to Him in the passage read this morning. This means that as long as we are connected to Christ-loving care, we will experience genuine growth and live successful Christian lives. It is important for us to pursue spiritual intimacy and communion with Christ by obeying His commands like He did for His Father (verse 10). Also emulating Christ’s pattern of love toward us is an issue that should be taken serious (verse 12). Jesus loves us to the extent of laying down His life for us. He called us ‘friends’ in verse 14, what a humility. The only way to reciprocate Christ’s gesture is to obey His commands. We were chosen out of the world to bear spiritual virtues different from the world. The norm in the world is ‘tit for tat’ but Christians are to maintain good interpersonal relationship though they may be persecuted for their good works. In living by this standard, you are abiding in Christ.
Point of Emphasis: Keep God’s commandments to abide in Christ’s love (verse 10).
Prayer Point: Help me Lord, to keep Your commandment so that my joy may be full.
