Relationship Marked By Love
Jn. 13:31-35
Inter-personal relationship within the church should be marked by genuine love. In His prayer for the church in John 17, Jesus prayed that all believers may be one. Believers can only be one if there is love between the members. Jesus showed the kind of love which He wants to be shown among believers – “that you love one another as I have loved you”. It was love for His followers that made Jesus lay down His life so that they may be saved. No one can demonstrate greater love than the one shown by Jesus for His followers. He now commands His followers to love one another just like He showed. Often within the congregation, we hear complaints like “there is little or no love in this congregation”. Each believer should not be waiting to get love, but be willing to give love. This is the only way to make love go round and make interpersonal relationship cordial among the congregation.
Point of Emphasis: A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another as I have loved you.
Prayer Point: In the name of Jesus, I receive the capacity to love other brethren around me.
