MEMORY VERSE
I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. Rev. 3:18 (NKJV)

Materially Wealthy But Spiritually Poor
Rev. 3:14-21
The Laodicean church was very active in church programmes. The church probably had a magnificent place of worship because they had affluent members. Members became conceited because of their affluence and had no feeling that they lacked anything. They probably would look down on others and believe that God was so impressed by their financial status that He did not mind their state of spiritual bankruptcy. One of the symptoms of spiritual pride is being lukewarm toward to the things of eternal importance. Members of the church were blind to those things that are precious to God – contrite and humble spirit. By worldly standards, they were wealthy and needed nothing; but as far as heaven is concerned, they were wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked. Are you covering your spiritual wretchedness with the cloak of religious activities?
POINT OF EMPHASIS: The closer one gets to God, the more one realizes one’s spiritual poverty.
PRAYER POINT: Jesus, cure me of all my spiritual blindness that I may see those things that are of eternal importance.
